The origin of the surname Cordero is Asturias.

The surname is born with some gentlemen who accompanied Don Pelayo Covadonga where they recognized him as their king and lord.

The first gentleman that there are reports of this family name was Novares house one of the most noble of Asturias.

Legend has it that this man was saved and mayor of a major fortress from which much damage to the Moors in the vicinity. For this reason the Moors had put in place (attack) the strength, after months of heavy fighting the Moors where they always failed, they came to perform at the besieged by famine.
