The origin of surname Ange is the region of Normandy in northern France.
This surname derives from the name of the region of Anjou, where the ancient capital of this region had the name of Angers. The Anjou region was annexed by the English crown in 1156, after which the son of Henry II Count of Anjou, was king of England. Time after the territory was recovered by Philip II in 1206, and was annexed to the French crown.
